Nonprofits & Initiatives / Dream Capital

A Rank & File Creative program

Dream Capital

A practical starting point for your business idea.

Business education and private coaching for people affected by incarceration, including those preparing for release and rebuilding their lives in the community.

We’re welcoming expressions of interest from participants, referral organizations and potential hosts. Dates, location, fees and funding arrangements will be confirmed before enrolment.

The format

One intensive.
Support for your next steps.

The proposed monthly program combines a full day of practical learning with two private 90-minute coaching sessions for each participant who completes the intensive.

01 / Learn together

Explore the foundations

Work through real business examples, discussion and guided exercises. No previous business experience is required.

02 / Shape your idea

Your first private session

Review your idea, intended customer, available resources and immediate barriers. Identify the priorities to work on.

03 / Plan what comes next

Your second private session

Refine your business outline and leave with a manageable action plan, including further research or support where needed.

What you’ll cover

Six useful subjects.

The intensive introduces the basics. Private coaching helps you apply them to your own circumstances.

Sales

Understand a customer’s needs, explain your offer and practise a sales conversation.

Marketing

Choose an audience, develop a clear message and explore affordable ways to reach customers.

Networking

Practise introductions, identify useful contacts and learn how to follow up professionally.

AI and current technology

Explore tools for research, planning and administration, with attention to accuracy and privacy. Printed examples can support settings with restricted access.

Business planning

Define your offer, estimate start-up costs and identify the information or professional advice you need.

Grants and funding awareness

Understand eligibility, distinguish grants from loans and learn what an application may require. Funding is not guaranteed.

For referral and delivery partners

Bring Dream Capital
to your community.

We welcome conversations with reintegration organizations, correctional education teams and community service providers about referrals or hosting an initial group.

Rank & File Creative would provide the curriculum, facilitation and private coaching. Delivery arrangements, participant support, accessibility and costs would be agreed with the partner. Delivery in custody requires institutional approval.
